Write For This Blog

Published by in Company News on December 29th, 2011 | Comments Off

We’re in the midst of a recruiting search for a marketing associate.  What we’re looking for is someone with graphic design skills, online writing skills, and a great attitude about learning B2B marketing.

The challenge is selecting an appropriate level.  We’re not looking for design talent – we have that and can outsource it and to be honest, you’d be bored working on one brand.  Knowing how Photoshop and Illustrator work helps us not outsource production work.  We like that.

Knowing how to write is important – not essays, but short, interesting online content for the website, the blog, and internal promotions.  That’s not a skill that can be taught. It has to be earned and enjoyed.  If you know how to do it, you’ll know what we mean.

Mostly we want someone who will work hard.  Someone who wants to learn .  Someone who respects their company and is respected by their company.  That’s usually the hardest to find because it’s not on the resume.

Is that you?

Texas Air Systems In Pictures: 2011

Our company Christmas party this year was at Halley’s, the boot-scooting country western dance hall famous for its mechanical bull-riding.  Certain brave souls tried that bull out, but most of us just dined on brisket and mashed potatoes, before heading to the dance floor with spouses and dates.

It was a great party for the end of a great year, and we have some photos up to show just what makes Texas Air Systems a great place to work.

Cue the Slideshare.

Texas Air Systems Ranks #5 In Best Places To Work In Dallas

Published by in awards, Company News on December 16th, 2011 | Comments Off

Back in September, Texas Air Systems was named the #5 Best Place To Work In the Midsize Company Category by the Dallas Business Journal.  The ranking system is based on a national best practices score measured by Quantum Workplace, and includes criteria like

  • Work environment
  • Company recognition
  • Personal growth and development
  • Innovation

Texas Air Systems shines in the category of recognition, and the Dallas Business Journal highlighted our unique culture.

Kudos are given in a monthly newsletter and in an annual service recognition luncheon with rib-eye steaks served up by the company’s owners.

Most popular, however, are “spot awards,” which are thank you notes, flowers, gift cards or sports tickets give for just “taking care of business.”

In 2010, we were ranked #16 on the list.  Our goals in 2012 are to reach #1, and once we’ve conquered that hill, jump to the Large Company List.

You Know You Work With Engineers…

When you find one of these under the office supplies counter.

Real Engineers Use Real Pencils

This is no run of the mill pencil sharpener.  It’s a top of the line, KS X-ACTO Vacuum Mount.  That’s the heavy duty kind that attaches to any surface with the use of air pressure to secure the base.

The fancy computers and CAD software has its place, but for every real engineer, two sharpened No. 2′s are still a necessity, even if they’re just used to turn on your iPad.

Texas Air Systems Launches Commercial Air Blog

Published by in HVAC Industry News on December 14th, 2011 | Comments Off

The name was available.  We’d like to do a better job pushing out content. And we’re building a new site for Texas Air Systems in WordPress.  Why not add a blog?

HVAC systems provide us comfort.  They provide us safety. They either cost us money or save us money.  When it comes to commercial spaces, those three areas can help define who wins and who loses.  Would you sit in a 75 degree movie theater?  If the owner wants a “green” building, how does that affect your cost?  If your computers need relative humidity of 40%, what do you do if you’re sitting at 65% in the morning, and 25% at night?

This blog will be dedicated to asking and answering questions about the commercial design world and the importance of the heating and cooling systems in that world. Also, we’ll look at ductwork.
